GTA 6 Weapons

Last updated: July 2026

GTA 6 arms Jason and Lucia with a wide spread of firearms, melee tools, and tactical gear — and Rockstar Games has confirmed more than 30 individual weapons across trailers, screenshots, and promotional material so far. The system is redesigned around a Red Dead Redemption 2-style carry limit (two rifles and two pistols at once, the rest in your vehicle trunk), a three-section weapon wheel, and the return of Ammu-Nation. Below is every confirmed weapon category and gear item, with leaked-but-unconfirmed extras kept separate.

Confirmed Weapon Categories

Rockstar has shown weapons spanning every classic GTA category, using its usual real-world parody branding. Confirmed categories that have appeared in official trailers and screenshots include:

Note: while the community has matched many of these to real-world models, Rockstar uses in-universe parody names, so specific real-world model names are identifications rather than official titles.

The New Carry System and Weapon Wheel

The biggest change is how you carry weapons. Instead of GTA V’s bottomless pockets, GTA 6 adopts a Red Dead Redemption 2-style limit: you can hold two rifles and two pistols on your person, and everything else is stored in your vehicle’s trunk. That turns your car into part of your loadout strategy — you’ll swap gear before a mission rather than carrying an entire armory.

The weapon wheel is redesigned into three sections — Weapons, Equipment, and Gear — switched with R1 / RB, much like RDR2’s radial menu. Dual-wielding does not return; you use one weapon at a time, though you can choose your dominant hand.

Equipment and Tactical Gear

GTA 6’s gear system is noticeably deeper than past games, pointing toward more involved heist and stealth missions. Confirmed equipment and gear items include:

Planning a robbery now means picking the right tools, not just the right guns. The Tracker Jammer is expected to help against police tracking during a chase — see GTA 6 Wanted System for how the police AI actually works.

Ammu-Nation and Getting Weapons

Ammu-Nation is back. The franchise’s iconic gun store — shown as “Phil’s Ammu-Nation,” complete with its own in-game commercial — returns as your main place to buy and customize weapons. Weapon customization is officially confirmed. Beyond the shop, you can expect the usual routes: open-world pickups (melee and basic guns scattered around the map), mission unlocks tied to story progress, and vehicle-trunk storage for rotating your loadout.

Reported but Not Confirmed

These weapon-related claims come mainly from the September 2022 leaks or datamining and are not officially confirmed — treat as rumor:

We’ll move items up to the confirmed sections as Rockstar reveals more — a dedicated gameplay trailer is expected to show much more of the arsenal.
